Hosting Options for Dynamics 365 Business Central and Dynamics NAV
Depending on where you're starting from, there are three options for you to consider when deciding where to host your Dynamics NAV or Business Central solution.
New Business Central Implementation
If you're new to Dynamics 365 Business Central (and aren't upgrading from Dynamics NAV), the new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system can be hosted in one of the below ways.

Each option depends on how much control, flexibility and responsibility you wish to have for the environment Business Central will sit in.
Upgrading to Business Central
When upgrading from Dynamics NAV to Dynamics 365 Business Central, you can host your new system in one of three ways.

It is important to note the change in licence types - they will change to named users only. This will mean only named users with the appropriate licence will be able to access the system.

Are you currently using Dynamics NAV or Navision in your organisation but want to change the environment in which the system is hosted?

Unfortunately, unlike upgrading or a new implementation, you are unable to move to Microsoft's Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution, as Dynamics NAV is not available in this way. To enjoy the benefits of SaaS, you would need to upgrade to Business Central.
